Learning to Learn: The Gem Project
What is The Gem Project?
Making children SPARKLE!
At St. Patrick's we believe that teaching and learning about how to learn and teaching children to have a passion for learning is at the heart of our role as educators. Developing the skills and tools to become successful learners will allow children to be successful in every aspect of their lives, both in and out of the classroom.
The Gem Project is an approach to teaching Learning Behaviours, developed by educational advisor Dr Tom Robson. The Gem Project identifies key learning behaviours, which we then spend time focusing on within class and embedding throughout our curriculum, to much success since we began a few years ago.
Each 'gem' can be further explored at the links below, coupled with explanations, examples and children's thoughts about how they've demonstrated each learning skill in school.
